Preserve Your Natural Tooth
When Is a Root Canal Needed?
Root canal treatment becomes necessary when the nerves and pulp inside a tooth become infected or significantly damaged. This damage can result from deep decay, a fracture, or an injury that penetrates beyond the tooth's protective outer enamel layer. If left untreated, this type of tooth damage can lead to the tooth dying, ultimately requiring extraction.
To avoid extraction and restore your tooth's health, Dr. Min Jung Jin will carefully remove the infected and damaged tissues from the inside of your tooth. The tooth will then be thoroughly cleaned and disinfected, and a medicated material will be applied to protect it. Finally, a dental restoration, often a dental crown, will be placed to restore the tooth's original shape, strength, and function. Most root canal procedures can be completed comfortably in just one or two appointments.
