The city of Yuma as well as Yuma County have a mask mandate. In any public facility, we are required to wear a mask. This includes grocery stores, hardware stores and healthcare facilities. On the Yuma County website, it says, “Yuma County hereby determines that the health and safety of Yuma County residents require that all businesses, offices, shops, and manufacturing and similar facilities shall post conspicuous signs at all entrances to their establishment that employee, customers and visitors to their establishment must wear face coverings pursuant to this Order to be admitted into their premises. If a customer refuses to wear a mask or cloth face covering for nonmedical reasons, a business may decline entry to the individual.”

The CDC has also recommended wearing a mask in public. “Everyone should wear a mask in public settings and when around people who don’t live in your household, especially when other social distancing measures are difficult to maintain.” Here at Gila Ridge Dental, we do require the wearing of a face mask when you enter our office.

Unfortunately, the reasons for wearing a mask have become a controversial and political issue. We do know that masks do not prevent you from breathing in everything, but they do reduce the amount of spray when coughing, sneezing and speaking. There is a possibility that you may have COVID-19 and be completely asymptomatic, and wearing a mask will decrease the amount of saliva spray when you speak. These are the reasons we recommend wearing a mask. We want to make sure that we are doing everything possible to keep you and your family safe and healthy during this pandemic.
